I’ve taught piano for over 25 years, with specialized training in Suzuki Piano and Suzuki Early Childhood Education. Professional enrichment programs also included other methods and exposure to much piano repertoire. So whether you're just a beginner, or a more advanced student needing guidance, let's explore music together!
Watching the joy that music can bring is the highlight of my teaching experience, especially with the very young. My favorite age group for starting are the babies! When you learn along with them, there is no greater reward.
Before relocating to Raleigh in 2012, I maintained a home studio in NJ, and also taught at a local studio and at Westminster Conservatory in Princeton. I teach mainly classical style, but have a broad interest in musical styles and enjoy creating arrangements of children's, popular and folk songs. My favorite composer is Beethoven.
I earned my MA at California State University, with Music Learning as a thesis topic. My discovery of Suzuki Method led to an interest in learning research. Suzuki training is registered with Suzuki Association of the Americas. In addition, I've taken numerous week-long summer training workshops focusing on technical issues and problem solving at the piano.
Private lessons are reinforced with periodic group classes and are an included feature. The specialty program Suzuki Music for Babies is a separate weekly class for birth to age 3. Feel free to contact me if you'd like more info about any of the programs — or just have general questions!
